Temple of Fire

Azerbaijan has been called “Land of Fire” since the ancient times. The reason of it is the rich oil and gas fields lying close to the land surface. Natural gas breaking through the land cracks often ignited caused by the lightning strikes or failed-set bonfires. Those torches arising from the deeps especially impressed ancient people. Many ages later people no more experience that holy awe of fire. Now we know how to make the fire warm us forever. And what do we need for that? The answer is obvious. The “black gold”, the oil. In the quest “Temple of Fire” you will be expected to discover the oil deposits, find a way to the temple of the eternal fire and keep the flame of ancient temple of fire worshipers.

Quest location:
Icherisheher, Old City is the historical and architectural core of the capital of Azerbaijan. Old City is the most ancient living part and one of the outstanding sights of Baku. It covers the area of 221 thousand sq. m. and includes museums, palaces, baths, mosques, caravan sarais, market square and mausoleums. 
The temple of eternal fire “Ateshgah” is an actual exotic of Azerbaijan! It is well-known almost everywhere in the world. “Ateshgah” is located 30 km away from the center of Baku, on the outskirts of Surakhani settlement. This area is famous for the unique phenomenon of burning natural gas exhaustion (gas comes into a reaction with oxygen and starts to burn). The temple got its present look in the XVII-XVIII centuries. It was built by the Hindu community related to the Sikh caste.

Description:
Split into teams. Each team is guided by a moderator. Each team moves through 10 checkpoints in the Old City by using a map and clues. At every checkpoint teams can find or get test tubes with oil: 1 to 5 depending on the difficulty of a task. Further, teams will take the oil to the Temple of Fire. The team that brings more oil to Ateshgah and makes it faster becomes a winner of the quest. In the end of the quest there will be a spectacular fire show.
