Master class in playing the nagara
The master class in playing the “nagara” was created in order to have an opportunity to touch the eastern traditions and show the beauty of the Azerbaijani customs. "Nagara" is a percussion musical instrument, a kind of a drum. "Nagara" means "tapping", comes from the Arabic verb "naqr" - to hit, to knock. Playing the nagara could be done with two or one hand, in some samples of folklore also with drum sticks.
In various ensembles, including the modern mugham, nagara is used as a rhythmic instrument, especially with zurns and balabans. Playing the nagara is characterized by a great rhythmic and dynamic variety. Nowadays, nagara as a leading instrument plays a big role in the ensemble and orchestras of folk instruments. We can hold this kind of master class at gala dinner at the restaurant. The number of people is not limited.
